In the chair

Keep the tooth, quiet the nerve

Root canal treatment removes infected pulp, cleans the canals and seals the tooth to relieve pain and preserve the natural tooth.

Root canal treatment cleans and seals the space inside a tooth that has become inflamed or infected. A crown often follows, because a treated tooth can be more brittle.

01

Diagnosis first

Pain, a shadow on the scan, or a deep filling: the cause is named before the file goes in.

02

Local anaesthesia

The visit should be comfortable. Say if it is not.

03

Then a crown

Many back teeth need a cap afterwards. That can be the same stay or a short return.

Typical stay

2–4 days

Visits

Often one or two appointments, then a crown if advised

Caring for your result

Tenderness for a few days is normal; pain relief as advised

Suitability

An infected or deeply decayed tooth that can still be saved

What we coordinate

Diagnosis, canal treatment under local anaesthesia, temporary or final restoration

Good to know

What this visit is — and is not

Clear limits keep the plan honest.

01

Save the tooth

When the root can still work as a foundation.

02

Or extract

If the crack runs through the root, honesty is an extraction and an implant plan.

03

Not a whitening substitute

A dark tooth after trauma may still need internal bleach or a veneer.

The Process

How the visit runs

Short stays still start with assessment, not a catalogue add-on.

  1. 01

    Diagnosis and imaging

  2. 02

    Cleaning and shaping canals

  3. 03

    Sealing the canals

  4. 04

    Final restoration, often a crown

Time in Antalya

Typical ranges for planning. Your outline may be shorter or longer.

Visit

Treat the canals

One or two appointments under local anaesthesia, then a temporary or the crown prep.

Same stay

Crown if advised

Laboratory time can fit the week.

Home

Watch the bite

Tenderness a few days is normal. Worsening pain is a message to us.

Same day

Do

  • Keep the written summary for your dentist at home
  • Message us if something feels wrong

The pieces

What you are looking at

Tap a part to keep it in focus. The explanation stays on the page. Nothing essential is hover-only.

Pulp: The living tissue inside the tooth. When it is irreversibly inflamed or infected, it is removed.

Who it is for

Typical patterns, not a diagnosis. Imaging and the dental team write the real plan.

Who it is for

  • Pain, a cracked tooth, failing fillings, or a mouth that needs staging before any cosmetic work.
  • A travelling patient who still needs ordinary dentistry done well, not skipped.

When we pause

  • Using a holiday as a reason to skip diagnosis and jump to ceramics.

A typical stay

  1. Visit 1

    Diagnose

Exam, imaging, a written order of what must happen before anything optional.

  2. Same stay

    Treat what cannot wait

Infection, broken cusps, hopeless teeth. Cosmetics wait their turn.

The first 48 hours

  • If a tooth was treated: chew on the other side until numbness and tenderness settle.
  • Finish prescribed medicines. Pain that climbs after day two is a reason to write, not to wait.
Read the aftercare protocol

Honest limits

Root canal success depends on anatomy and infection, not on the city. Some teeth still need extraction.

A full-mouth rebuild is staged. Compressing it into a long weekend is how complications start.

Named on the plan

What we will not skip

Diagnosis, a radiograph where indicated, and time to explain extraction versus save.

Ask before you book

  1. 01What must be treated before any veneer or implant is even discussed?
  2. 02If this tooth cannot be saved, what are the honest next options?

The visit

Before, in the chair, and after

Sequences vary. Your written plan names the order for your mouth, not a catalogue.

  1. Before

    Name the cause

Pain, a shadow on the scan, or a deep filling: the diagnosis is written before a file enters the canal.

  2. During

    Clean, shape, seal

Under local anaesthesia the inflamed or infected pulp space is cleaned and filled. You should be able to say if you still feel the procedure.

  3. After

    Often a crown

A treated back tooth is often weaker. A cap may be the same stay or a short return. Tenderness for days is common; rising pain is a message.

Planning

What shapes this plan

None of these replace a clinical assessment. They are the questions the dental team actually uses.

  1. 01

Whether the tooth can still serve as a foundation. A split root cannot

  2. 02

Infection, pain pattern and what the scan shows of the canals

  3. 03

Whether a crown should follow in the same stay because the tooth will be brittle

  4. 04

Time needed to clean and seal, sometimes two appointments

  5. 05

Your medical history for anaesthesia and antibiotics if indicated

Treatment planning before you travel

A root treatment is indicated after diagnosis, not as an add-on to a smile package. Imaging shows whether the tooth can be saved and whether a crown should follow in the same stay.

What you can expect

Local anaesthesia, canal treatment, then a temporary or final restoration. Tenderness for a few days is normal. Pain relief as advised.

A typical stay in Antalya

Two to four days is common, longer if a laboratory crown is part of the same visit. Your outline states the appointments.

Dental travel

Planning this treatment in Antalya

You arrange the flight. Trip4Smile coordinates the plan, VIP transfer, stay support and follow-up around the dental team’s work.

  1. 01

    Send the film

A periapical or OPG of the painful tooth plus a note of when it hurts (cold, bite, night). We do not diagnose from emoji.

  2. 02

    Chair, then rest

A short stay. Soft food that evening. VIP transfer if we are coordinating. You should not drive yourself groggy.

  3. 03

    Crown sequencing

If a cap is indicated, laboratory time is booked inside the same week whenever possible.

  4. 04

    Home dentist

The treated canals and the restoration are summarised for whoever sees you next.

Treatment FAQ

Is root canal treatment painful?

It is performed under local anaesthesia and typically relieves pain rather than causing it. Mild sensitivity may follow briefly.

Will I need a crown afterwards?

A crown is often recommended to protect a root-canal treated tooth, especially back teeth.

How many visits are needed?

Many cases complete in one or two visits; complex cases may need more. Your plan includes the estimate.

Can the tooth fail later?

Success is generally high but not guaranteed. Good hygiene and regular reviews help long-term outcomes.

What is root canal treatment?

Cleaning and sealing the inside of a tooth whose pulp is inflamed or infected, so the tooth can stay in the mouth instead of being extracted, when the root is still restorable.

Does it always hurt?

The visit should be comfortable under local anaesthesia. If it is not, say so. Afterward, tenderness for a few days is common; worsening pain, fever or a rising swelling is not “normal healing”.

Root canal or implant?

If the tooth can be a sound foundation, keeping it is often the conservative path. If the crack runs through the root or bone loss is severe, extraction and an implant plan may be more honest.

Will I need a crown after?

Many back teeth do, because they can split. Front teeth sometimes need less. The plan names it; it is not a surprise add-on at the desk.

How long is the Antalya stay?

Often 2–4 days if the crown can be made in the same visit. Complex canals may need a second appointment. Your outline says which.

Can I fly the same day?

Many people do after an uncomplicated visit. Severe swelling, uncontrolled pain or a surgical extraction the same day changes that: the team writes the rule for your case.

Who performs the dental treatment?

Licensed dental professionals at partner clinics in Antalya. Trip4Smile coordinates planning, VIP transfer and follow-up. We are not the treating clinic.

Can international patients receive this treatment?

Yes. We coordinate for patients who fly in. Photos and history come first; a written plan is sent before you book a ticket.

How is my treatment planned before I travel?

You share smile photos, any recent X-rays and your goals. The dental team reviews the file. You receive stages, a typical stay and what is not included.

What happens after treatment?

You leave with written aftercare. The same coordinator stays reachable once you are home. Your local dentist can use the summary we send.
