How it is built

A full cap in zirconia

Crowns restore the shape, strength and appearance of a tooth that cannot be repaired with a filling alone.

Zirconium covers the whole prepared tooth, not only the front. Strength is why it is used on back teeth and on teeth that have had root canal treatment. Light still passes; it is denser than e.max.

01

Full coverage

A crown, not a veneer. More tooth is prepared because more tooth is protected.

02

Back teeth welcome

Bite force is the brief. Front teeth can use it too when a veneer would be too thin a solution.

03

Metal-free

No grey collar at the gum. Shade is still matched, not ‘universal white’.

Typical stay

5–8 days

Visits

Typically one stay covering prep and cementation

Caring for your result

Avoid very hard foods for a few days after cementation

Suitability

Broken, heavily filled or root-treated teeth that need a protective cap

What we coordinate

Assessment, preparation, laboratory crown and fit

Materials & plans

The ceramic is named on the plan

E.max, zirconium and composite are not interchangeable. The preview decides.

01

Single crowns

One damaged or root-treated tooth.

02

A smile of crowns

Several teeth, still planned as individual units with a shared shade.

03

On implants

The same ceramic can sit on an abutment. That is a different plan.

The Process

Scan, try-in, then bond

Most ceramic smiles finish in one stay of about five to eight days when the laboratory is in the week.

  1. 01

    Assessment and planning

  2. 02

    Preparation and impressions

  3. 03

    Temporary crown

  4. 04

    Final crown fit and cementation

Usually one stay

Preview before you fly if photos allow; clinical days plus rest in Antalya.

Before

Photos and a preview

You send photos and history. A digital or analogue mock-up is discussed before enamel is prepared.

In Antalya

Prepare, laboratory, try-in

Scan, conservative prep where indicated, temporaries, then the try-in you can reject.

Bonding day

Shade in daylight, bite check

Final cementation and a written aftercare sheet before VIP transfer to the airport.

Compared with

Which ceramic, and when

Front teeth often want light through them. Back teeth often want strength. The plan can mix.

Typical ranges, not a promise. Individual results vary and cannot be guaranteed.

The first days in ceramic

Sensitivity is common and usually fades. The try-in is not the time to be polite about shade.

First 48 hours

Usually fine: Softer, not ice-cold

Avoid: Staining drinks if you still have unbonded teeth

First weeks

Usually fine: Normal with care

Avoid: Biting pens, ice, bottle caps

Long term

Usually fine: A normal diet

Avoid: Skipping a night guard if you clench

Do

  • Say if the try-in is too white or too bulky
  • Use a night guard if you clench
  • Keep reviews at home

Don’t

  • Expect veneers to be reversible
  • Use teeth as tools
  • Skip hygiene around the margins

Maintain hygiene and attend regular reviews to monitor the crown and surrounding gum.

Global material standards

Certified, original systems on your treatment plan

Every implant and ceramic brand to be used is named on your written outline. Before you travel, you know which recognised materials are planned.

  • VITA logo
  • Solventum logo
  • Nobel Biocare logo
  • Ivoclar logo
  • Straumann logo
  • Neodent: a Straumann Group brand logo
  • Medentika logo
  • Dentsply Sirona logo

The pieces

What you are looking at

Tap a part to keep it in focus. The explanation stays on the page. Nothing essential is hover-only.

Full cover: Unlike a veneer, a crown meets the tooth all the way around.

Who it is for

Typical patterns, not a diagnosis. Imaging and the dental team write the real plan.

Who it is for

  • Colour, shape or small chips on visible teeth that are otherwise healthy enough to prepare.
  • Able to stay 5–8 days for preparation, laboratory work, try-in and bonding.

When we pause

  • Heavy grinding that has not been discussed, or teeth that need a crown for strength rather than a thin shell.
  • A catalogue smile chosen from a photograph of someone else.

A typical stay

  1. Day 1

    Photography and mock-up

Shade tabs in real light. A trial smile before enamel is prepared.

  2. Day 2

    Preparation

    Conservative reduction, temporaries, laboratory prescription.

  3. Days 3–6

    Try-in, then bond

You approve shade and shape in the chair. Only then is it bonded.

The first 48 hours

  • Mild sensitivity is common. Avoid very hot, very cold and staining drinks until advised.
  • Do not pick at the margins. If a bite feels high, message us, do not wait for a crack.
Read the aftercare protocol

Honest limits

Veneers change enamel. They are not paint. Healthy teeth can still be the wrong case if the bite is hostile.

Composite is faster and more reversible. Ceramic is more colour-stable. Neither is “better” in the abstract.

Named on the plan

Ceramics

Ivoclar e.max and VITA zirconium among the laboratory ceramics we specify: photographed, tried in, then bonded.

Bonding

Isolation, try-in paste, then a Solventum (3M) adhesive protocol so the tooth you approved is the tooth that is seated.

Ask before you book

  1. 01How much enamel will be prepared, and what happens if I later want them off?
  2. 02Will I see a try-in before bonding, in daylight, not only under the lamp?

The visit

Before, in the chair, and after

Sequences vary. Your written plan names the order for your mouth, not a catalogue.

  1. Before

    Why a cap

A crown is proposed when a filling would leave the walls too weak, or when an old cap has failed. It is a structural decision.

  2. During

Same logic as any crown stay

Prepare, temporary, laboratory, fit. Material (zirconia, e.max, other ceramics) is named in the plan.

  3. After

    The tooth is still yours

Decay can still start at a poor margin. Hygiene around the edge is the long game.

Planning

What shapes this plan

None of these replace a clinical assessment. They are the questions the dental team actually uses.

  1. 01

How much natural tooth remains after decay or fracture

  2. 02

Whether the nerve is healthy or a root canal is already in the history

  3. 03

Front versus back position: material follows the job

  4. 04

Old crowns that leak at the edge

  5. 05

The bite against the opposing tooth

Treatment planning before you travel

A crown is a protective cap, not a cosmetic add-on. Records show whether the tooth can hold one, and whether the plan should include a post, a root treatment or a different restoration.

What you can expect

Assessment, preparation, a temporary, then the laboratory crown and cementation. Avoid very hard foods for a few days afterwards.

A typical stay in Antalya

Most crown plans fit a 5–8 day stay in Antalya. Combined implant or smile cases follow the longer diary on your outline.

Dental travel

Planning this treatment in Antalya

You arrange the flight. Trip4Smile coordinates the plan, VIP transfer, stay support and follow-up around the dental team’s work.

  1. 01

    X-ray the tooth

A recent film of the tooth in question plus a smile photo. Guessing from Instagram is not assessment.

  2. 02

    Temporary while you wait

You should not leave a prepared tooth bare between appointments. The stay is built so you do not.

  3. 03

    Fit and fly

Bite check, hygiene around the margin, then VIP to the airport when we are coordinating.

  4. 04

    Your dentist at home

Material name and X-rays travel with you.

Treatment FAQ

What material options are there?

Options include zirconium, porcelain-fused-to-metal and full ceramic; the best choice depends on the tooth and aesthetic goals.

Does getting a crown hurt?

The procedure is done under local anaesthesia. Mild sensitivity may follow for a short time.

How long does a crown last?

With good hygiene and regular check-ups, crowns can last many years. Individual results vary.

Will it look different from my real teeth?

The shade and shape are matched to your natural teeth for a seamless appearance.

When is a crown needed instead of a filling?

When so much tooth is missing that a filling would flex and crack what remains. The dentist judges remaining walls, not a catalogue rule.

Crowns vs veneers on front teeth?

If the back and sides of the tooth are sound, a veneer may be enough. If the tooth is already crowned, heavily filled or root-treated, a new crown is often the honest repair.

How long does a crown visit take in Antalya?

Often several days so the laboratory can work and a try-in can happen. Exact days sit in your outline.

Can a crown save a cracked tooth?

Sometimes, if the crack does not run through the root. A crack to the root is often an extraction conversation.

What material will you use?

Named in the plan: zirconia, glass ceramic or another indicated ceramic. “White metal” without a name is not a plan.

Do crowns on implants work the same?

The visible cap is similar. Underneath is an abutment and fixture, not your root. Timing follows osseointegration, not this page’s filling-to-crown path.

Who performs the dental treatment?

Licensed dental professionals at partner clinics in Antalya. Trip4Smile coordinates planning, VIP transfer and follow-up. We are not the treating clinic.

Can international patients receive this treatment?

Yes. We coordinate for patients who fly in. Photos and history come first; a written plan is sent before you book a ticket.

How is my treatment planned before I travel?

You share smile photos, any recent X-rays and your goals. The dental team reviews the file. You receive stages, a typical stay and what is not included.

How long should I stay in Antalya?

It depends on the case. For Crowns, a typical stay is 5–8 days. Your written plan names the days for your situation.

What happens after treatment?

You leave with written aftercare. The same coordinator stays reachable once you are home. Your local dentist can use the summary we send.
